RCN: Hello, we are here with_ UNSANCTIFIED a local band from El Monte , and they're getting ready to release there new record , so we're going to find out a little more about what makes them tick. . .

1. RCN: What type of band are you? (descriptive)

Unsanctified is a brutal aggrressive death metal band that has no limits of intensity, and relentless brutality, and energy!

2. RCN: Tell us the brief history of your band.

The band has been around since 99' we have played some huge shows in the past few years, L.A. Metal Fest's, Las Vegas metal Fest,T.J.Mexico, not to mention countless other shows with some really big names, Including DEICIDE,BEHEMOTH,MORTICIAN,MONSTROSITY,SUFFOCATION, INFAMY to many to list!

3. RCN: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Some of my personal influnces are bands like, SLAYER, TESTAMENT,DEICIDE,MORBID ANGEL,SUFFOCATION... again to many to list. No influnces for the pop singers and groups, that don't know how to play an intruments or lip sinc I won't mention any names, but I bet you can guess

4. RCN: What are your dreams and goals?

Well we have acomplished one dream/goal we landed an independent record deal. Once our album is out entitled "BANISHED FROM HEAVEN", our next goal is to tour Germany. The "death metal" scene is huge over there.

5. RCN: Who writes the songs, what are they about?

I write all of the new stuff (Donnie Marhefka)I write about the stuff that alot of unfortunate people have to deal with everyday the good and the bad. I also like to write alot of morbid fictional stuff as well.

6. RCN: What's your opinion of George Bush?

I think Geoge Bush is the country's biggest disgrace. I beleive he is just in office to finish where his father left off. He is just his dads puppet.
He should be impeeched, and have someone who cares more about this country! We are not the Universe's peacemaker. Although that would't be bad either.

7. RCN: How do you promote your band and shows?

Mostly by our website, our more dedicated fans know that we update our site daily, and they can find out everything about us www.unsanctified.com

8. RCN: Describe your show, visual and musically

Our shows are immessely intence. The vibe when we play is unexplanable. We have bombs (when permitted)Light show, it is definatley something that you would have to see and feel for yourself.

9. RCN: What do you think about downloading music online?

I think downloading is great. Shure bands and record companys loose money, but the way I see it if your music is getting downloaded in the first place, you should be thankful that people know who you are na d want to hear you.And someone to hear your music for the first time, might not even look twice at your CD in a record store. If your a musician bitchin about the money wake up dicks your in the wrong biz, it's never been about money, it's about the music.

10. RCN: What's your outlook on the record industry today?

Well it is definatley alot tougher to make it. And to stand out, and not to be forgotten about is tough. There are so many bands out there, it hard to stay in the peoples eyes. If for 1 second your name is not exposed somewhere you are forgotten about.

11. RCN: What's your claim to fame?

LOL, this is a funny question to me. We have a few actually. My cousin is a big time porn star Kendra Jade (the Jerry Springer scandal girl)LOL!Thus is how I moved out here to join UNSANCTIFIED. My last band from Mass. inked a deal, they are called BURIAL. Also our guitar player Hans, has recently joined the world famous death metal act INFAMY.

12. RCN: Tell us a story about a day in your life.

HAHA this is great, well I work in the adult industry when I am not jammin (thats my day job), So my daily life is incredibly fun, and exciting. I couldn't picture working in a "corporate" world.
Working with some really big porn girls is always fun, especially the partys, LOL

13. RCN: What inspires you to do what you do?

I have always loved music from the day I was born. For as far back as I can remember, my parent used to always sing for and with me. It wasn't till I was 6 or 7 when I realized it was the intruments themselves that got me addicted. When I was 8 I traded my dirt bike for a piece of shit drum kit. After seeing the Motley Crue video LOOKS THAT KILL, I knew music was my life. I played drums for 10 years and started singing soon after. the rest is history.

14. RCN: What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Just keep at it play and play till your fingers bleed. Alot of bands out here in L.A. think for some reason they are immortal. That is bullshit. There is and always will be someone better. and to have an ego is ironic. Luckily everyone we have ever played with have all been really cool cats.

15. RCN: What are some of your pet peeves?

I'm addicted to playing and writing. Girls are fun.

16. RCN: How does music affect you and the world around you?

Without my music and the ability to write my own songs and apply them to the music, is my life. That is my world.

17. RCN: What's new in the recording of your music?

The new album as I mentioned "BANISHED FROM HEAVEN" will be out soon. I don't want to give anything away, you will have to hear for yourself. Although I think it's the bands most epic material to date. It has so many different dementions and depths, no one sounds quite like us, you have to hear it.

18. RCN: What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

The toughest thing for bands, out here anyway is competition. There are so many bands out here, that to have a regular fan attendets is tough. People know that if they miss one of your shows one night, that they can see you a week later somewhere else. And if not, there is another band just has good if not better.
UNSANCTIFIED's biggest obsticle right now is finding a permanent drummer. It's tough for drummers out here. back home drummers played all day long in their basements. And no one would ever complain. out here of course there are no basements, houses are really close together, and studio time is expensive as hell.

19. RCN: What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?

The best thing is just playing. We love to play, I'm addicted to playing. It could at our studio a party a club, We love to play, so as long as Were playing I love it.

The worst thing is PAY TO PLAY, that is total bullshit!!! for young kids who have formed a band, and want to play and a club wants you to sell 500 tickets at $10, thats $5000 bucks what kid can pay that if the tickets are not sold! What ever happened to the clubs promoting. Also all shows should be all ages. If a show is 21 and over, thats sucks for kids that really want to see you.

20. RCN: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Our next show is the L.A. Metal Fest June 26th at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, You should be there because this is an event NOT to be missed. 26 bands of all types of metal, you and everyone else you know should go. Don't forget www.unsanctified.com has everything you will ever need to know aout us. Thanks Rock City, you truly Rock.

RCN: Thank you for your insight and time. We'll look forward to hearing your music and seeing your next live show . . . Later gator.
