RCN: Hello, we are here with_The Edison Show a local band from Santa Barbara California >, and they're amazing, so we're going to find out a little more about what makes them tick. . .

1. RCN: What type of band are you?

We like to describe our band as a Funk-Rock-Dance Party

2. RCN: Tell us the brief history of your band.

(include when you started and some shows you've played) MK and Turtle were working with a guitarist for a couple of weeks and decided to find a drummer to complete their new band. At Guitar Center they ran into Jupiter and hit it off. It quickly became evident that the guitarist was going in a different direction, so we enlisted the talents of long time friend of Jupiter, Fitzall. We knew this lineup was right from the first practice. Since then we have played all over California with our good friends Holden, and now have some great opportunities coming up in the next couple of months. We are headlining a number of local shows and festivals including the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Festival. We just played the morning show on KEYT, a TV station that services San Luis, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties and has over 150,000 viewers. 3. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

The Red Hot Chile Peppers, The Beastie Boys, Lenny Kravitz, DJ Quick, Dr Dre, and Maroon 5

4. RCN: What are your dreams and goals?

To show the world how to party and dance their troubles away, and perhaps spread a little happiness and positivity while were at it.

5. RCN: Who writes the songs, what are they about?

We all write-I know everybody says that-but truly this is a band of colaboration. It doesn't matter who starts an idea, each one of us adds a very unique perspective and the result is always better for it.

6. RCN: What's your opinion of George Bush?

As a person, I'm sure he's a great guy. As a president, I think we all feel someone with a better understanding of world history and politics is needed to lead our country through such complicated times. Our fav. is John McCain but he isn't running this year.

7. RCN: How do you promote your band and shows?

We use the internet extensively. We have an email list, a comprehensive website, and mini-sites on umn.com, iuma.com, unsignedandonline.com and many more. UMN has been the most effective so far. We also do a lot of direct promotion by playing high schools and colleges at lunch-time performances.

8. RCN: Describe your show, visual and musically

Energetic, melodic, dynamic, and interactive with the audienc

9. RCN: What do you think about downloading music online? It's great, we love it, we do it, we encourage our fans to download our

music. When it crosses a line where it is being done against the wishes of the artist and for the purpose of avoiding paying songwriters for their work-well that's different.

10. RCN: What's your outlook on the record industry today? It sucks. It is in a position of having to change or go under. Change is by nature violent. But I think in the end this will lead to a better relationship between artists and the labels.

11. RCN: What's your claim to fame?

I think the fact that we blend so many styles of music and yet still keep the music cohesive is a feat in itself. Turtle wants to add that we are also the best musicians in world...ever. I think he's joking, but you never know with Turtle.

12. RCN: Tell us a story about a day in your life.

We all live together in an apartment on a 5 acre ranch in the mountains near Santa Barbara. Jupiter owns a professional recording studio with his brother and our manager Chadd Rosenberg. The studio is also on the ranch as is our rehearsal space. We have also set up a Gym in the garage so we don't need to leave unless we have a show! No one has a day job anymore so we can put all of our efforts into making this band succeed

13. RCN: What inspires you to do what you do?

We were playing at a Highschool just last week and a couple of guys were standing up and dancing around the table their friends were eating at. MK wanted to encourage others to do the same, so he grabbed a CD from the Merch booth and gave it to them. Now these guys were clearly outgoing and popular. After seeing that we gave out a CD to someone dancing, this girl gets up and stands right in front of the band and starts shaking her groove thing. She wasn't the best dancer and wasn't in the "A" crowd but she gave it her all. We gave her a CD too and she was so happy and started screaming and jumping up and down. She risked being made fun of, and just let go of the social pressures that can rule all of our lives. That's awsome, and that's what gets us so excited about taking our music to the world

14. RCN: What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Get organized, set your goals, and don't give up.

15. RCN: What are some of your pet peeves?

Mean people, negative people, and bad drivers.

16. RCN: How does music affect you and the world around you?

I thinks the same way it affects everyone. Just imagine a world without music, and you'll feel how it affects you. Sometimes music can change the world and sometimes it just rocks you and makes you want to move. Theres vaidity to both.

17. RCN: What's new in the recording of your music?

Since our Manager Chadd and our Drummer Jupiter are also our producers, I think we our recordings are unique in that they come entirely from within us. If we do something great, or experimental recording wise, we know it was our idea. If we suck, we have no one else to blame.

18. RCN: What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

From a band perspective obviously its getting to the place we all want to be, and that's doing music full time for our jobs. From a songwriter's perspective I think it's always about writing great songs. So many bands worry about their name, image, genre, etc. but do not work as hard at simply writiing great songs.

19. RCN: What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?

The best thing is that everything is provided for you, but the downside is that you are confined by the limitations of that club and the clientelle they attract, etc.

20. RCN: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Well June 26 we play the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Festival which is just fun no matter why you go. They have this great parade on State St through downtown and it's one of the craziest parades you've ever seen. In LA we are playing The Whiskey on Thursday July 29th for a UMN showcase. You all should come because you will have a good time whether you want to or not. It's like a quick vacation to Las Vegas or Mexico with no risk of losing a lot of money or drinking bad water!

RCN: Thank you for your insight and time. We'll look forward to hearing your music and seeing your next live show . . . Later gator.
