Headless Eyes

RCN: Hello, we are here with Leo from Headless Eyes, a local band
from the Los Angeles area, and they're kicking nut sacks, so we're
going to find out a little more about what makes them tick. . .

1. RCN: What type of band are you?

H.E.: Alt. Metal I guess if I have to put it in a catagory

2. RCN: Tell us the brief history of your band.

H.E.: Brief? That's hard. Origionally Headless Eyes was called 11th
hour but was changed due to many bands having that name. I was ass
raped, screwed, chewed up and spit out by an asshole that works for
someone I had looked up to and was hugely influnced by for 10 years.
So in 2000 I started all over again. I started auditioning musicians
(instead of hiring) and we did a few shows but am currently still
looking for serious players. I know exactly what I want and I don't
care how long it takes to get it. I will get it.

3. RCN: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

H.E.: Early on Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper, Dio, Kiss, and Joan
Jett. Today: Still Dio is rocking the world! Marylin Manson, Courtney
Love, Muse, Rob Zombie, NIN, and a long list of others.

4. RCN: What are your dreams and goals?

H.E.: To be the best at what I do. To perfect my writing skills and
maybe one day write about my venture in the buisness.

5. RCN: Who writes the songs, what are they about?

H.E.: I write the lyrics and usally melody. I collaberate with
others writing the music.

6. RCN: What's your opinion of George Bush?

H.E.:He kind of scares me

7. RCN: How do you promote your band and shows?

H.E.:Online, through our mailing list, word of mouth.

8. RCN: Describe your show, visual and musically

H.E.: Like a train wreck....the bloody after math

9. RCN: What do you think about downloading music online?

H.E.:I use to be againt it but now I find it as a great way to
promote the band. People are going to do it anyways. So hell I
remember as a kid we use to swap cassate tapes and record them for
our friends. I don't see it being any different. I would still go out
and buy the album if it was good.

10. RCN: What's your outlook on the record industry today?

H.E.: It sucks. They evil! I'm trying to stay at it on my own. I
don't trust anyone anymore not even attorneys. I think there's a
better way. And beware of spiky blone haired guys giving out
backstage passes :0

11. RCN: What's your claim to fame?

H.E.: The music I hope.

12. RCN: Tell us a story about a day in your life.

H.E.: Seriously, you don't want to know this you would shoot
yourself.

13. RCN: What inspires you to do what you do?

H.E.: It's in my blood. When I'm not doing it I feel that I'm doing
something wrong. I love it no matter what shit I've been through it
doesn't change my love for the music. Bastards can't keep me down.

14. RCN: What advice would you give to fellow bands?

H.E.:Don't listen to anyone except yourself. You'ld be surpised at
how many big named bands were told they sucked, they will never make
it...blah blah blah crap. Have a desire and keep trying to make it
better. Be real and have perservence and there's no way you can't
succeed. Only you can make yourself fail.

15. RCN: What are some of your pet peeves?

H.E.: Spiky blonde hair guys in the industry that pose as something
bigger giving out backstage passes and there hotel room then
fucking you over cause you said no. Then spreading rumors that you're
a stalker when in turn they are and various other rumors trying to
cover their asses... I could go on but I won't.

16. RCN: How does music affect you and the world around you?

H.E.: It drives me. It's what sets the mood for the day. It can
take me far away or look at something very personal inside myself.

17. RCN: What's new in the recording of your music?

H.E.: Right now I'm in the middle of writting. Sometimes things
come really quick and sometimes it can take months. I dont want to
put out crap. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and have tossed out
hundreds of songs. I'm real in my music and there's no bullshit. So I
won't put out bullshit. But I tell you this new cd I'm doing will be
the hardest anyone's ever heard me and very personal to myself.

18. RCN: What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

H.E.: Staying together. Making sure legal stuff is dealt with from
the begining cause you will get fucked in the end if you don't.
Contracts, paper work etc. Keep everything put it in a safe. You'll
be surprised at what you thought wasn't important can be the
difference between you and $$$ or just general proof.

19. RCN: What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?

H.E.: Sound men who have their heads up their asses. It's like hey
if you see someone singing and you can't hear them...uhhh turn them
up or turn someone down! duhhh. Also drunk hecklers who are usally
losers alone getting drunk cause they hate themselves so they try to
throw there crappy energy on others.

20. RCN: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

H.E.: As of right now we have no plans for shows until the cd is
done. However, things change and I do Volenteer my time for a good
cause called Metal Jam. Proceeds benifit children with Autism. I
have done it the past 2 years since they've been doing it. I plan to
stay involved until they give me the boot ;)
When we do have a show you don't want to miss it. You never know what
obscene things you might see. Until then keep dreaming big....Leo
