RCN: Hello, we are here with Chop Suzy a local band from Hollywood, and they're fun as hell , so we're going to find out a little more about what makes them tick. . .

1. RCN: What type of band are you?

We are a three-piece rock band that loves to rock out, have a rockin' good time and get rocked.

2. RCN: Tell us the brief history of your band.

After seeing millions of local bands perform around L.A., all of whom were followed around by hot women, two of us (Beau Girardeau and Tony Baloney) decided that if we were ever going to get some action in this city we would either have to be rich, be rock stars, or both. We started jamming in 2003, played a few shows and spent an eternity searching for a bass playa'. We found our current bassist (Manuel Davila) roaming around in the desert living off of dead squirrels and cactus juice. We offered him a better life, took up the name Chop Suzy, started playing shows, did some recording and the rest is history. At this point we still haven't gotten any action and our bassist is still eating dead squirrels.

3. RCN: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Our musical influences range from Jon Spencer to Queens of the Stone Age to Radiohead and beyond. Non-musically speaking, I would say that our biggest influence has been our Lord and savior, Gallagher.

4. RCN: What are your dreams and goals?

Our dreams and goals are pretty much the same as everybody else's. Mainly just to have our music heard and never have to work a 9 to 5 job again.

5. RCN: Who writes the songs, what are they about?

Most of the songs come as a result of getting drunk and jamming. (Thank God for 4Tracks) They all seem to have a revolving theme of drugs, alcohol, and women. It is rock and roll of course.

6. RCN: What's your opinion of George Bush?

One word: Antichrist.

7. RCN: How do you promote your band and shows?

Mostly handing out flyers and free CD's. Plus anyone who comes to our show scores some free crap, and for the ladies, one-minute make out sessions with the drummer.

8. RCN: Describe your show, visual and musically

Have you heard the term Òbeing on Cloud 9Ó? We do you one better. We take you to Cloud 10. It's a non-stop majestic symphony of massive proportions.

9. RCN: What do you think about downloading music online?

We prefer to spend our time downloading porn.

10. RCN: What's your outlook on the record industry today?

It still sucks, but its getting better. If we were signed the industry would rise from the ashes and explode in a way uncomprehendible to man.

11. RCN: What's your claim to fame? (What's unique about your band)

Every show is dedicated to the memory of Def Leppard's drummer's missing arm.

12. RCN: Tell us a story about a day in your life.

Breakfast in bed, floss, hang out at the recycling center, teach senior citizens arts and crafts, landscaping, and of course, shopping!

13. RCN: What inspires you to do what you do?

Hot chicks who dig on crappy bands. Imagine what they would do for a good band like us.

14. RCN: What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Cheer up. Second place ain't that bad.

15. RCN: What are some of your pet peeves?

Girls who turn out to be guys, after the fact. But hey, what can you do?

16. RCN: How does music affect you and the world around you?

This is a very serious question that warrants an intelligent, precise, well thought out answerÉ Drawing a blank over here.

17. RCN: What's new in the recording of your music?

Wow! I thought you'd never ask. We are happy to report that we are in the middle of recording nothing right now. But the next time we do, you can be sure it will be made with blood, sweat, and a ton of beer.

18. RCN: What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

Not having equipment would be the biggest obstacle. People not liking your music would be another. Sucking is something that bands should definitely try to avoid.

19. RCN: What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?

The best thing about playing clubs is performing in front of people. The worst part is the blank stares from those people.

20. RCN: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Our next show is Thursday, May 27, at Zen in Silver Lake (2609 Hyperion Ave). It's $7 at the door, $5 with a flyer which you can get at www.chopsuzymusic.com.< SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> We hit the stage at 10:00 pm. If you don't go to this show, then the terrorists have already won.

RCN: Thank you for your insight and time. We'll look forward to hearing your music and seeing your next live show . . . Later gator.
