Yes, it was a spectacular display of L.A.'s local musical talent, a night of 1000 stars! . . .and, a cavalcade of musical celebrities! . . . the newly reopened Reseda Country Club was rocked big time as DRZ Entertainment and Gibson Guitars presented The Second Annual Rock City Awards, Thursday, Nov 6th, 1997.

By 9:00 this awesome 1,200 seat club was packed to the gills with anxious and excited fans, and at 10 PM Channel 13 KCOP did a live broadcast for the prime time news, reaching millions of people! Numerous local cable TV shows and camera crews were on hand to capture this exciting non-stop rollercoaster of excitement and entertainment.

The club looked stunning as the entire club was awash in blue light, from the blue gels in the lobby, stage lights, and overhead lights to the blue tablecloths on the tables, the futuristic theme transposed this club into a very special banquet event. Silver nameplates of local bands adorned the hundreds of tables, matching the modern silver brochures and silver logo of the Rock CIty News. It was like something out of a movie!

The stage was awesome, complete with surrounding metal scaffolding erected for the show, and a completely new high tech metal stage built for the awards presentations. The Podium looked like someting from a Batman Movie, Silver and black, with the awards logo emblazed on the front.

The trophies were magnificent, layered on slabs of white marble with sparkling hologram music notes and a beautiful gold cup from which rose a bigger sculptured gold music note, and an allstar cast of L.A.Ős rock moguls was on hand to help celebrate this event, including representation from most of L.A.'s rock clubs, and a handfull of colorful comedians and celebrity TV hosts who did a marvelous job of providing quality entertainment throughout the night.

And the party was unbelievable! Imagine, over a thousand local musicians, representing over 200 of the best local bands in Los Angeles, all with silver and blue reserved tables and outfitted in their stage gear, it was like New Years Eve 1999! Everyone schmoozed and networked like crazy and had a great time, especially the lucky bands that accepted their awards with thanks, and those that were interviewed by the many TV shows. Easily, the "event of the year" for L.A.'s local rock scene.

Playing live at half hour intervals were some of the best local talent this town has produced, including: all girl phenomenon: PHANTOM BLUE, plus the newly signed to Colombia Records and produced by Rick Rubin: SYSTEM OF A DOWN, L.A's own southern blues greats: THE LOVE REVIVAL, Black Sabbath tribute band: SLACK BABBATH, XXX recording artists: HUMAN DRAMA, hardcore greats: 57 CROWN, Orange County's best band, recently signed by Tom Zutaut of Guns n' Roses and Motley Crue fame: SUCTION, L.A.'s best and biggest drawing gothic band: AMERICAN GOTHIC, the Valley's best new band: GHOSTDANCE, Glam revival wonders: REVLON RED, and melodic rock from MADAREUS
