Special Comments:
Powerhouse Park and adjacent Seagrove Park are the hub of Del Mar Beach activity. Powerhouse Park, at the foot of 15th Street, features a new recreation center that accommodates weddings and various social gatherings in a seaside setting.

Del Mar beaches are predominantly sand with a few scattered rock reefs. The surfing is above average with below-average crowds.

There is no direct beach access south of 15th Street although this residential area does have several unofficial footpath accesses down the low coastal bluffs. There is an active railroad track along this stretch of coastline and it is illegal to cross the tracks on foot.

Food/dining:
There are many fine restaurants, most notably Jakes and the Poseidon next to lifeguard station at Powerhouse Park. Other excellent high-end restaurants lie along Camino Del Mar south of 15th Street.

Restrooms:
Public restrooms are located near the beach at 17th Street and at the new community center at Power House Park. Portable toilets are available at 25th Street and at North Beach.
