Beach Information For Your Convenience
Parking difficulties aside, this may be OC's premier beach, if the blend of locals and tourists from around the world is any indication. It's quaint and picturesque, yet has plenty of attractions: basketball courts, volleyball courts, a nearby concentration of shopping downtown, and decent waves. Sand too crowded? Head north or south to the more secluded bays and coves.

Food/Dining: No concession stands are available on the beach, but plenty of restaurants and take-out joints (Diedrich Coffee, Johnny Rocket's, a food court) are in the downtown area.

Facilities: Lifeguards, bus stop, surfing, basketball courts, volleyball, playground, tide pools, showers.

Restrooms: One near the north end of Main Beach is newer than the facilities at the other end.

Dogs: From June 1 to Sept. 15, leashed dogs allowed on the beach only before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. From Sept. 16 to May 31, leashed dogs allowed on the beach at all times. You must pick up after your dog.
