Beach Information
Special Comments: El Porto is by far the most popular surf break in the South Bay area. Located in northern Manhattan Beach, El Porto consistently has waves when all other beaches are flat. Surfers drive from all parts of Los Angeles county to surf El Porto because it is more exposed to the swells. It is a beach break with lefts and rights that break over sand bars. Looking to the right you'll see a rock jetty and far to the left is the Manhattan pier. Dogs are not permitted on the beach. Restrooms with showers are located throughout the El Porto beach area. There are lots of volleyball courts that get plenty of use when the sun is out. The bike path runs north and south for miles. You can rent bicycles and skates by the snack bar. Food/dining: There is a snack bar called Alfredo's on the beach. It has tables and umbrellas right on the sand, and usually has BBQ on summer weekends.
