BLACK LURXX
EPOXY GLOW
at The Troubadour

Ah yes - BLACK LURXX. I reviewed them for you a while ago and boy did they improve since then! I liked them the first time I saw them, but this time they just fuckin blew me away! They played mainly tracks from their CD Give It To The Sea, which I am an avid listener of. Their style is hard to describe, somewhere between Gothic, hard, and punk rock, but two things I can tell you for sure: they're heavy and they kick ass! Their stage presence is much better now, too. The two guys upfront - Syff on bass and Nick "Izzy" on guitar/vocals - are just oozing with energy. They told me later that they are looking for a new drummer now. All the best to them! Get their CD! I advise you! Their contact number is (213) 960-1034.
Next up were EPOXY GLOW. I had seen them before, too, but never quite like this. Epoxy Glow were all dressed up as Spice Girls! After playing a couple of their originals, which are kind of seventies glitter rock style, they did a cover of the Spice Girls' "Say You'll Be There" and the audience loved it!! They even managed to get an additional "spice girl" from the audience on stage with them, thus only lacking "Sporty Spice." This was surely a show I would have hated to miss. If you're into seventies style glitter rock, then these guys are for you, since they do what they do very well. Contact them at (213) 666-9189.
